BSEB Defers Quality Power Premium Move

  • Power consumers of Patna, Rajgir and Bodh Gaya can breathe easy for the time being. In a last-minute development, Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) has decided to defer its decision to impose 10% hike in the energy bill for providing 24X7 quality power from Thursday."We are yet to make full-proof arrangements for 24X7 supply of power to consumers. That is why, we have deferred it till further order. Fresh date would be announced after the arrangements are made," said BSEB spokesman H R Pandey.
  • The breather has come as a welcome relief for the power consumers of the state capital as they were served substantially higher power bills in November on account of imposition of fuel surcharge. "We are already paying higher energy bill due to imposition of fuel surcharge," said a consumer.Bihar State Power Regulatory Commission had some months back given its go ahead to the BSEB to impose 10% premium for providing quality power to the consumers. The commission had cautioned the power board to impose this premium only when the board was fully equipped for round-the-clock power supply.
