NTPC Coal Blocks to Be Freed

  • With more than 40 power stations throughout the country left with less than a week’s supply of coal, leading to an impending power crisis like situation, the Coal Ministry has been forced to cast a re-look at its decision of deallocating five blocks of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).According to highly placed Government sources, the Ministry has called a meeting on Friday to review its earlier decision of cancelling coal blocks allocated to NTPC as well as other entities like Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO), Tenughat Vidyut Nigam, Bihar State Mineral Development Corporation and the Jharkhand State Electricity Board.
