Natural Cooking Gas Pipeline Project Starts At Indore

  • A much awaited piped natural gas project at households in the city began from a locality here. The supply of natural gas, with methane as a major constituent up to 94 per cent, for cooking was launched in 25 new customers' houses at Narayan Bagh in the city. 25 connections in Kalani Nagar would be supplied by tomorrow, Managing Director of Avantika Gas Pradeep Madan told PTI here. The project has been undertaken with an aim to lower down the cost of LPG by eight per cent and ease the long queues for its refill, he said.
  • Avantika Gas limited, a joint venture of HPCL and GAIL, got a massive project of Rs 250 crore to supply Natural Gas not only in domestic sector but also to vehicles through its outlets, Madan said. By the end of this fiscal year, the company would fulfil the need of 3,000 customers, he said, adding by the end of 2012 this number would rise to 17,500. New connections are being alloted on a first come first serve basis at an installation cost of Rs 6,500, and at Rs 22 per standard cubic metre of gas consumption, he said. This gas would be 7 to 8 per cent cheaper than the LPG refill of 15 kg, he added. Avantika would put up a the tariff of different slabs for variable consumers of this supply, he said.
