GMC's Power Woes Will Be Solved: Govt to HC

  • The state government on Tuesday told the high court of Bombay at Goa that the power shortage at Goa Medical College (GMC) premises would be sorted out shortly and proper arrangements would be made for providing continuous power supply to the hospital.The statement was made by the joint secretary (health), Dattaram Sardessai, in an affidavit submitted in the public interest litigation filed by one Prakash Sardessai. The petitioner had complained that the health care system in the state was below the prescribed standards.
  • The joint secretary has in his affidavit also stated that the government would procure a 40 KVA UPS for the hospital, which would sort out the power-related problems. He assured the court that the government would make all efforts for ensuring continuous power supply.On November 9, the petitioner had filed an affidavit alleging that that patients at the GMC had to face constant hardships due to irregular power supply. The high court had thereafter directed the government to file a reply to petitioner's affidavit.
