  • The supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) finally started in the city on Tuesday. The first to get the gas were 30 houses of Narayanbagh in ward number 14 and one house of Kalani Nagar in ward number five. The first house to get the supply was that of local corporator Archana Chitale. The inauguration of this service was supposed to be done by chief minster Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a formal function, but due to his busy schedule, he could not turn up for the event. However, another programme has been planned in next couple of days where some prominent persons will be invited for official inauguration of the project. The gas pipelines are also being laid down in around 20 kilometer area which will cover five more colonies of ward number 14.
  • Vijaynagar area in ward number 34 has also been selected to get the gas supply under this project in first phase. Around 175 registrations have been received for gas connections so far. With the gas now being supplied through the pipes, the residents will no longer have to wait in long queues to get their gas cylinders.Besides, the comparatively low rate of the gas will also be of great benefit for the users. The company is also educating the prospective customers on the security benefits of piped supply. The tender to implement this much-talked PNG project had been awarded to Aavantika Gas Agency.
  • Indore was expected to become the first city in the state where this service would be started but could not meet the mark as the project faced several delays due to technical glitches. The agency had a deadline till Diwali which was later extended to the first week of December.Around 40 houses of Dewas were the first in state to get PNG directly for domestic consumption on November 21. Gail Gas Ltd had managed to complete the infrastructure for the PNG project in Dewas in time. While Gail gas Ltd hat got the contract for the project in Dewas, Avantika Gas Ltd had won the contract for Indore, Gwalior and Ujjain.
