TATA Power Provides Employment Oppurturnities to Local Youth in Odisha

  • Report by OrissaDiary.com bureau; Bhubneshwar: In line with its commitment to providing sustainable livelihood for its communities, Tata Power India’s largest integrated private power utility, facilitated employment opportunities for local youth from villages around its Naraj Marthapur Project, Odisha to join Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) BPO/KPO in Kolkata.The initiative included a training programme organized for local unemployed youth who have graduated from a recognized University. 40 unemployed youth joined a 15 day programme that provided training on soft skills, corporate etiquettes, computer skill and arithmetic. A special team comprising of HR, CSR & BPO experts from TCS then conducted interviews for the candidates post the training. In the first round 32 candidates participated in the written test out of which 18 candidates qualified for final Interview. 8 candidates were finally selected to join TCS.
  • Speaking on this initiative, Mr. Praveer Sinha, EVP & Project Director, Eastern Region Projects said, “We are delighted with the success of this initiative. We pride ourselves in developing the community in and around our projects and providing employment opportunities in the Tata Group Companies. We plan to implement similar initiatives at Maithon and other Eastern Region Projects in association with TCS and other Tata Group of Companies”.All selected candidates will join an Initial Learning Programme (ILP) on 19th December in TCS Office, Kolkata. After completion of the 23 day ILP the candidates will begin work on the TCS roll.
