NTPC Signs Pact With MP Tradeco to Set up 50-MW Solar Plant

  • State-run power firm NTPC today said it has signed an agreement with Madhya Pradesh Power Trading Company (MP Tradeco) for supply of power from a 50-MW solar photovoltaic power plant proposed to be set up at Rajgarh."NTPC has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with MP Tradeco for supply of power from a 50-MW solar PV power plant to be set up at Rajgarh, in Madhya Pradesh," the company said in a statement.Expected to be commissioned by the year 2013, the solar power from the Rajgarh solar photovoltaic (PV) plant shall be bundled with unallocated power from upcoming coal-based thermal power stations of NTPC.
  • The Power Purchase Agreement was signed by NTPC Ltd MKV Executive Director (Commercial) Rama Rao and MP Tradeco Managing Director P K Vaish in the presence of other senior officials from NTPC, the government of Madhya Pradesh and state-run utilities of Madhya Pradesh.The company achieved a total installed capacity of 36,014 MW earlier this month with the commissioning of a 660-MW unit at the Sipat plant, in Chhattisgarh.NTPC, currently operates 15 coal-based and seven gas-based units on its own, besides six joint venture power stations. It plans to establish 1,28,000 MW of generation capacity by 2032.
