Rs 1100 Cr Granted to BSEB

  • The state cabinet on Wednesday gave sanction to the minor hydroelectric power project to come up at Arar ghat in Madhepura district at a cost of Rs 65.44 crore, and also gave its approval to raising a loan of Rs 58.89 crore from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) for the project.While the cabinet gave its approval to the release of the state share of Rs 6.54 crore for the same project, Nabard would extend the loan from its Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), cabinet secretariat department principal secretary Ravikant said. In all, the cabinet gave its sanction to 17 different items.
  • Ravikant said the cabinet also sanctioned Rs 1,100 crore to Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) to meet the cost incurred on purchase of power from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for the period December 2011 to March next year.Of the sum, Rs 720 crore would be paid to the NTPC through RBI for the aforesaid period, and the remaining Rs 380 crore has been sanctioned to BSEB to meet the cost of excess purchase of power.The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 199.98 crore, of which Rs 198 crore will be spent on the CM's Uniform Scheme for girl students and its 1% (Rs 1.98 crore) on monitoring of the scheme, Ravikant said. According to him, the cabinet also sanctioned Rs 400 crore to be given as loan to Bihar State Food Corporation (BSFC) as working capital at 9% interest.The money would be utilized for procurement of paddy from farmers.
