Panel Defers Decision on Errant Contractors

  • The civic standing committee on Saturday deferred its decision on the action to be taken against errant contractors mentioned in the report submitted by municipal administration.Municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak had recently said in the general body meeting that action would be initiated against contractors for not completing works within the stipulated time.Accordingly, the civic administration had tabled a report about two such contractors before the standing committee. Corporators of all parties had alleged that the contractors had kept works incomplete and important works on Paud Road and the river side road were pending for long.
  • However, on Saturday, the committee decided that the issue would be taken up only next week. No reason was given for the postponement.Meanwhile, the standing committee approved a pedestrian subway at Senapati Bapat Road near Chatushrungi temple. The committee also approved a tender of Rs 63.55 crore to lay a 2,700-mm pipeline from Mundhwa jack well to Mutha right canal.
