State Nod Awaited for Road Widening

  • Roads and buildings depar-tment is awaiting the nod from the state government for widening the 2.8 km road from Gollapudi to Sitara centre in One Town to divert the vehicles passing from Hyderabad to Eluru and from Vizag to Howrah on the National Highway.The existing road was laid nearly 30 years ago and not widened though the traffic in the city increased manifold during the last three decades. Besides, the road is used like a dumping yard. The R and B department is ready to invest Rs.6.2 crore for widening the road. The proposed road widening will check traffic problem to some extent near Kanakadurga temple ghat road. 
  • The R and B superintending engineer Mr P. Sreemannarayana, told this newspaper that the department is waiting for permission from the state government to start the widening work. Once the road is widened, vehicles passing from Gollapudi towards Eluru, Vizag and Howrah can be diverted via Sitara centre, Nynavaram flyover near milk project, inner ring road to Ramava-rappadu ring. Vehicles can also reach Ramavappadu ring from Gollapudi bypassing Sitara centre, Chittinagar tunnel, Kedareswarapet, BRTS road and Gunadala centre. Over bridge works connecting BRTS road and Gunadala centre are underway for more than two years and likely to be completed in three months. During important festivals like Dasara and Bhavani Deeksha relinquishment, vehicles can be diverted from Gollapudi to Krishna-lanka via Tunnel, Panja centre and K Market preventing passing of vehicles near Kanakadurga temple. 
  • As the proposed Vija-yawada bypass connecting Chinakakani in Guntur district to Chinaoutupalli village in Gannavaram in Krishna district will be del-ayed due to tender process and technical sanctions, widening of road from Goll-apudi to Sitara centre will be very useful to commu-ters.
