A 3-Way Solution to Better Kochi

  • The district administration is to support the three major projects — zero waste, own vegetables and road watching, initiated by Better Kochi Response Group here on Saturday. While launching the projects, district collector Mr. P.I. Sheikh Pareeth, said the projects needed to be implemented without any delay and the administration would extend all support for this. “For decentralised zero waste disposal programmes, there would be a government subsidy of 75 per cent,” he said. The projects would be taken to the public by Ernakulam district residents association apex council.
  • Mr Pareeth said “own vegetable programme” should be given top priority and the state needed to have self-sufficiency in vegetable production.“It is not the lack of good ideas, but the problems in implementation that the state needs to tackle,” he added. The project aims at having vegetable gardens in all houses, schools, terraces and open spaces.“Road watching”, initiated by the collector, is an innovative concept aiming to make people aware of the technology of making and repairing roads. While launching the project, the collector said the repair works of the 6-km road from High Court to Kalamukku on Vypeen Island would be done under the supervision of Better Kochi Response Group. The work, delayed for a few days, would start next week, he said.
