Forget PWD Roads, Their Website is a Hit

  • The Public Works Department, for a change, is making news for a right move. Though the department is yet repair the potholed roads in city, it has decided to update its website to guide the public on their routes.Motorists who are unsure about the routes to be taken to reach their destination can now bank on the PWD website. The online facility helps travellers to get a clear idea about the routes to be taken and distance to their destination in a few clicks.The website users just have to fill in the 'from' and 'to' columns.For example, if a person wants to move from Kozhikode to Ernakulum the online system will give the options such as medical college, civil station, Nadakkavu and Kozhikode City under the column Kozhikode.
  • Similarly, specific locations like Ernakulum collectorate, Ernakulum boundary and Ernakulum Pallimukku Junction will appear under the Kozhikode column. This helps the traveller chose the exact destination.Once the traveller clicks 'find' after selecting both the starting point and the destination a detailed and point-to-point route chart will appear on the screen.Important landmarks will also be mentioned in the route chart. Besides, Road number, to identify whether the road is a national highway, state highway or other PWD roads, will also be given along with the route.Another feature of the path finder is that it also gives the recommended route apart from the shortest route. Apart from having a quick look at the route chart, the motorists can also take the print out of the route.
