Sterlite Grid Uses Wrench to Power Up Projects Worth Rs. 40 Billion

  • After powerful brands like Lanco Infratech, BHEL, Moserbaer projects Ltd, & Lanco Solar, Sterlite Grid, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sterlite Technologies, chose to adopt Indian technology solution WRENCH in a bid to meet project deadlines and ensure quality on three critical high tension power transmission projects across India. The completed systems will evacuate and transmit power through a network of about 2200 km of high tension lines covering seven states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar and Assam and two sub stations en route.
  • These projects are collectively valued at about Rs. 40 billion and were awarded on a Build, Own, Operate and Maintain basis for periods ranging from 25 to 35 years. The bidder itself will design, finance, construct and maintain the transmission systems.
  •  “Projects like these will transform the nation’s energy landscape and a technology like WRENCH will provide an impetus to energy organizations”, said Aju Peter, Director R&D, WRENCH Solutions, functioning from the Cochin Special Economic Zone for the past six years.. “Our web-based platform can be used for engineering management, document/process/quality control, resource optimization, and internal and external collaboration and communication. Today’s engineering organization needs all these to successfully plan and execute projects”, he said.
  • “India needs to look at a minimum investment of Rs. 1400 billion on strengthening power transmission systems over the next decade and Sterlite Grid is a big step towards that”, a spokesperson of Sterlite Grid Limited said. “We plan to use WRENCH on the East North Interconnection (ENICL),the Bhopal-Dhule Transmission (BDTCL) and the Jabalpur Transmission (JTCL). We believe WRENCH will be instrumental in helping us meet our targets ahead of time because of its high degree of automation and built-in industry best practices, and its proven ability to control quality and monitor deliverables at every step of the project cycle”, the spokesperson added.
  • In its 17-year history, WRENCH has been catering to a broad spectrum of major engineering and manufacturing brands in India including ISRO, L&T, Bosch, BHEL, Tata power and Godrej. “When you analyse it what we do is really simple, and we’ve been doing it for a pretty long time” said WRENCH Founder/CEO Varghese Daniel, “We build and implement technology solutions that help engineering organizations become globally competitive in the shortest possible time. This means, among other things, that a project/product lifecycle that is run on WRENCH will be completed on time, on budget, and with 100% quality in every deliverable”.
  • “(Energy) is a very competitive market. Despite a fairly robust I.T. infrastructure already in place, including ERP, EDMS, CAD, and of course the standard corporate applications for communication and collaboration like email and so on, we felt the need for something that would give us an extra edge wherein comes the role of WRENCH.”, Sterlite Grid Limited IT head Said.
  • WRENCH R&D Center, located at the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ), grew from a humble beginning with just six staff in 2005 to over 100 employees including engineers, support and technology personnel at present, and a highly experienced management team which travels around the world to cater to our growing global operations. WRENCH today has a powerful presence in UAE, Singapore, Australia, and Canada, besides five Indian offices.
