PGCIL Appointed Consultant to Revamp Transmission Lines

  • The State Cabinet on Tuesday decided to depute Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) as consultant to carry out the electricity transmission work in Jharkhand. The Government of India enterprise, with expertise in establishing transmission lines, would be paid 11 per cent as supervision and consultancy charges for the purpose. The company would invite tenders in transparent manner to facilitate the project in the State worth Rs 1,416 crore. It would be the executing agency instead of Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB).The Cabinet also decided to adopt Clinical Establishment Registration and Regulation Act-2010. The Act would see a set of regulations for private nursing homes and diagnostic centres mushrooming in the State without following proper guidelines and norms about quality of treatment and doctors.
  • To provide impetus to education of girls in the girl child year, the Government has also decided to provide free education to females up to post-graduate level in all the colleges and intermediate schools. Registration fee and exam fee of theirs would also be reimbursed.The Government would also sign an MoU with Postal Department to execute Ladli Laxmi Scheme in the State.
  • The Government has also decided to pay half of the consultancy fee, Rs 9.36 crore, to Ms Scot Wilson Kirkpatrick India Ltd. The firm was barred from carrying the consultancy work for construction of roads but the Government lost the case. A Commission headed by Development Commissioner Debashish Gupta would look into the reasons behind the flaws.Compensation for losses caused by wild animals has also been increased. From now on, in case of death family members of the adult died in such incident would get Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 for suffering serious injury. A sum of Rs 650 will be paid for every quintal of grain lost/destroyed by wild animals with maximum limit of Rs 5,000. Maximum Rs 15,000 would be paid for loss caused to produce.
  • The Cabinet also decided to disburse additional 15 kg of rice to 5 lakh BPL families in rural areas of 10 districts-W Singhbhum, Ranchi, Khunti, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih and Deoghar. Rs 17.57 crore has been sanctioned for December and March period. The State has also decided to form State Nutrition Council under the chairmanship of Chief Minister. It would make policies to overcome malnutrition in the State.JSEB has been given Rs 250 crore as its last installment of budgetary provision. It has also been decided that the Board need not to go to the Finance Department for the grant and the amount should be released to it in 12 equal installments.
