Trishe Energy to Raise PE Funding for Wind Power Projects

  • Chennai based wind power developer - Trishe Energy is planning to raise funds from private equity investors for setting up of 1,000-MW of wind farms.Trishe Energy recieved an order for developing 1000Mw wind farms for Indian Energy, with this Trishe has orders worth close to 2,000 MW in India.It is already implementing a wind energy project for Gamesa. The company has identified sites for wind energy projects in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. These projects are at various stages of implementation.Indian Energy Plc was acquired by Infrastructure India Plc for $13Mn in an all cash deal. Indian Energy Plc owns two wind farms in South India. It has a 24.8MW wind farm in Karnataka and 16.5MW windfarm at Theni in Tamil Nadu. It got listed in Sept'09, raising $16Mn through it's IPO.
  • Wind power project developers have attracted a lot of PE/VC investments in past couple of years. In January, JP Morgan Asset Management invested R100Cr in Leap Green Energy. Leap Energy owns an installed capacity of 100 MW of wind assets and intends to expand to beyond 200MW by 2012.Goldman Sachs is investing $201.6Mn in renewable energy startup - ReNew Wind Power, founded by Suman.T.Sinha - exCEO of Suzlon Energy.Other investments in this sector include IDFC India Infrastructure Fund's $33Mn investment in Caparo Energy and FE Clean Energy's $40Mn investment in NSL Renewable Power.
