ONGC Teaches Villagers How to Conserve Energy

  • The ONGC covered various rural areas of the State to spread the message of oil and gas conservation as part of the Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight 2012 organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas by oil sector industries in India to educate the masses about the importance of conservation of energy.ONGC, a flagship company in the oil sector, had taken the initiative to spread the message of oil and gas conservation by organising various programmes at all ONGC work centres this fortnight from January 15 to January 31.
  • To create awareness among the rural masses, ONGC executives visted primary schools at Bheewala and Phoolsani and Tribal Kanya Ashram School, Kalsani. The team distributed information brochures with energy saving tips and information on efficient use of oil and gas. During their visit to rural areas, team members interacted with housewives, students, farmers, school management committees and villagers and conveyed the message about saving precious LPG, oil and electricity in kitchens, schools, colleges, tractors and two-wheelers. Students from the village schools also participated in the quiz, drawing and painting competitions based on the theme of energy conservation.
  • In an earlier programme, ONGC executives visited the rural areas of Tehri district and interacted with the residents of various villages. The team travelled in the areas and disseminated knowledge on how to conserve precious commodities like oil and gas.RK Bahuguna, in-charge of Corporate Energy Cell, urged villagers to conserve fossil fuels with the care accorded to saving for retirement.
