Ministry Wants AP, Karnataka to Implement R-APDRP Scheme on Time

  • The Union Ministry of Power has suggested Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka Governments to expedite the implementation of the Restructured-Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) and complete the scheme on schedule.While reviewing the R-APDRP programme during the one-day conference organised by APTransco on behalf of Andhra Pradesh power utilities at Vidyut Soudha today, Mr Devender Singh, Joint Secretary, MoP, Government of India said since Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have been role models in IT initiatives, the Centre expects successful implementation of this programme in these States within the stipulated period.
  • According to a statement, he also directed power utilities to submit a comprehensive report on feeder wise and Distribution Transformer (DTR) wise losses, energy audit and accounting on pilot projects under the scheme completed at Gooty town in Ananthapur District and Punganur town in Chittoor district and necessary remedial action to be initiated for reduction of losses.Mr Dinesh Kumar, State Principal Secretary for Energy, said several steps have been initiated to strengthen the power sector such as taking up of IT initiatives for reducing the aggregate, technical and commercial losses and enhancing customer services.
  • Mr Ajay Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, AP Transco said that Rs 1,604 crore has been sanctioned by the Power Finance Corporation for the implementation of this programme and sought permission from the Centre for extension of R-APDRP program in towns, which had reported 15 per cent and below transmission losses.
