Duron Energy to Raise $10 MN for Expansion

  • Duron Energy Private Limited is planning to raise $10 MN to fund its expansion plans.The company has recently completed the pilot marketing of its plug-n-play solar lighting solutions in two states of Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh and is set to expand into five other states like Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Orissa in the next six months.Last year, Duron raised funding from Intel Capital and Spanish cleantech investors.Duron Energy is a subsidiary of US-based Distributed World Power, a maker of affordable off-grid solar energy solutions.
  • Headquartered in Bangalore, Duron Energy is a manufacturer and distributor of affordable consumer solar power products designed for off-grid use in emerging markets. The company has already installed its home lighting solutions in about 3,200 villages in the states of Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Its product range comprises solar home lighting systems, solar home systems and solar UPSs.Current products from Duron includes Duron Pro, Duron Breeze and Duron Mega, all-in one portable solar photovoltaic (PV) power systems designed for use in rural India.Duron has adopted a demo-based sales and distribution model to penetrate into the rural markets. It also plans to export its products to South Asian nations and Africa.
