Bangalore’s Gas Agencies Running Out of LPG Stock

  • City-based gas agencies are running out of LPG stock.“I pray to god that negotiations will be fruitful by Friday so that there is no problem,” said Captain MM Harish, president of Bharat Gas Distributors Association. Meanwhile, people have started booking cylinder owing to the proposed indefinite strike. “Panic booking has already started. We can manage the supply till Friday,” said a gas agency owner.Oil marketing companies have now decided to procure cylinders from Mangalore and trucks are being sent to the coastal town. But it takes two days to transport LPG from Mangalore to Bangalore.

  • Also from Friday, supply of fuel for autorickshaws will be hit. Some gas agencies will run out of stock on Thursday itself, said another gas agency owner. Meanwhile, the plan to use trains to transport LPG has remained a pipedream. Negotiations between the Southern Region LPG Tanker Lorry Transport Owners’ Association and oil marketing companies have failed.Owners of over 4,000 LPG tankers have launched an “indefinite strike” from Tuesday midnight. The strike is aimed to draw the attention of Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to fix the new tender rates for transporting LPG from the loading units to bottling units and to issue work orders to 600 new trucks on a contract basis.
