Villagers on The Warpath Over ORR Plan

  • The municipality authorities' outer ring road (ORR) project has stirred a hornet's nest with people of 10 villages abutting Ongole questioning the rationale behind the scheme. The villagers' contention is that there is no need for the ORR since the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is already planning to construct a bypass through their villages.The NHAI bypass moves through Throvagunta, Mukthinuthalapadu, Koppolu and Pellur before joining the national highway. As per initial proposals, the ORR, too, would pass through Mukthinuthalapadu, Koppolu, Pellur and Throvagunta villages apart from Mandavavaripalem, Pernamitta and Mungamur.
