Alstom T&D bags Order Worth Rs 648 MN

  • Alstom T&D India has been awarded a contract worth Rs 648 million by Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for 765 kv Circuit Breakers. This contract by PGCIL is to procure 64 numbers of Circuit Breakers for various 765 kV sub-stations located at Dharamjaygarh, Jabalpur, Bhiwani, Satna (Extension), Gwalior (Extension) and Rajgarh Pooling (near Kotra).
  • Alston Grid is the first manufacture to localize circuit breakers up to 765 kv and beyond with spring operating mechanism. Alstom Grid is leading global supplier of circuit breakers in the range of 72.5 kv to 800 kv with a strong market share.Commenting on the contract, Rathin Basu, managing director, Alstom T&D India shared, ``We are priviledged to work together with Power Grid to develop Ectra and Ultra High Voltage transmission networks in India. In 2009, we successfully commissioned India`s first Extra High Voltage (EHV) 765kv circuit breaker for NTPC Sipat. Alstom T&D India made significant investments from 2007 to 2009 to build state-of- the-art manufacturing facilities at Paddapai, Tamil nadu with capacity to produce EHV 765kv and UHV (Ultra High Voltage) 1200 kv switchgear products. With this bulk order, we maintain our leadership in the transmission sector with supply of 765kv Circuit Breaker for 23 out of 40 substations.``Shares of the company declined Rs 6.65, or 3.54%, to trade at Rs 181.10. The total volume of shares traded was 18,679 at the BSE (12.10 p.m., Monday).
