Nod for Rs.82cr Works in East Godavari

  • The East Godavari administration is taking up developmental works at a cost of nearly Rs.82 crores for developing infrastructure like roads, drains, ISLs and road connectivity to unconnected SC, ST and tribal habitations in the current fiscal under the National Rural Employ-ment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).The East Godavari administration is taking up developmental works at a cost of nearly Rs.82 crores for developing infrastructure like roads, drains, ISLs and road connectivity to unconnected SC, ST and tribal habitations in the current fiscal under the National Rural Employ-ment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).Authorities are making efforts to ground developmental works at a cost of Rs.50 crores shortly. The government issued administrative sanction for taking up works on Tuesday.
  • The district water management agency which is the nodal agency for implementation of the job scheme will supervise the works.As per the plan, three gram panchayats will be selected in each mandal for execution of works. The authorities intend to take up works in one gram panchayat out of a total number of 58 mandals in the district this fiscal year.The works include development of cement and concrete roads and drains and construction of individual sanitary latrines.Execution of developmental works will be continued to the next fiscal where two gram panchayats will be selected for each mandal.
  • The authorities are also taking up implementation of GO No. 129 dealing with developing road connectivity to unconnected habitations at a cost of nearly Rs.32 crores in the district under the NREGS.The authorities propose developing road connectivity to six SC unconnected habitations, one ST habitation, 12 tribal sub plan habitations and 13 other unconnected habitations.Works will be executed under the technical supervision of the panchayat raj authorities.DWMA authorities maintain that they are going to take up works initially in 58 gram panchayats where the turnout of labourers for works is high.State government sanctioned about Rs.181 crores for execution of works under GO No. 389 in 174 gram panchayats in the district and the works will be executed in two fiscal years.The district water management agency project director, Mr O. Madhusudan said, “We are going to take up the works very shortly as we have already got administration sanction.”
