Japan Reiterates Commitment to DMIC

  • Japan’s ambassador to India, Akitaka Saiki, has reiterated Japan’s commitment to the ambitious Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) and the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) projects.The Japanese ambassador met chief minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Tuesday morning and discussed about wide range of issues.The ambassador said that the Japanese industry and government looked forward to increasing their involvement, participation and investment in Gujarat. He particularly emphasised the Japanese government and industry’s commitment to development of DFC and DMIC. He also said that Japanese companies would participate in infrastructure projects including desalination-based water supply projects.The CM expressed his resolve to promote Japanese investment in Gujarat.
  • He pointed out that the state government had planned to set up two Japanese townships in the state, and that two Japanese consortiums were already working on eco-city projects. The Japanese ambassador said that he would encourage Japanese companies to explore possibility of technology transfer in water conservation, wind and solar energy, waste management, among others. He also said that there was huge scope for Japan and Gujarat to work together in the 60th year of Indo-Japan bilateral relations.During his visit to the state, the ambassador visited Sabarmati Riverfront project, Science City, Mundra Port as well as diamond industry of Surat. He also visited Gujarat National Law University and Sabarmati Ashram.
