Andhra Pradesh CM's Readyness to Allocate Amounts for Railway Projects

  • The Chief Minister Sri N.Kiran Kumar Reddy has announced that the State Government ready to allocate whatever amount requires as its 50% share for the next financial year for completion of existing Railway Projects in the State for which we have consented. The Chief Minister has requested the Union Railway Minister Sri Dinesh Trivedi to instruct the Railway Board Officials to complete 25 ROB/RUBs for which already technical sanction was given.The State Government will provide Rs.63 crores for the stage-I clearance for preliminary works for these ROB/RUBs and asked to sanction another 40 ROB/RUBs for which preliminary survey was completed and enable to take up in the next financial year. A high-level meeting first of its kind in the State exclusively for the Railway projects was held here in the Jubilee Hall this evening.
  • The Chief Minister Sri Kiran Kumar Reddy presided the meeting. Railway Minister Sri Dinesh Trivedi, Union Minister of State for Railways Sri K.H.Muniappa, and entire Railway Board consisting of Board Chairman, Sri Vinay Mittal, Member Technical and Member Engineering attended. 34 Parliament Members from all parties of our State attended this meeting. Union Ministers from our State Smt D.Purandeswari, Sri M M Pallam Raju, Smt Panabaka Lakshmi, State Ministers--Sri Anam Ram Narayana Reddy, Sri N.Raghuveera Reddy, Sri D.Sridhar Babu, Sri T G Venkatesh, Senior Railway Officials from Delhi, C G M of S.C.Railway Sri G.N.Asthana, Chief Secretary to the Government Sri Pankaj Dwivedi, Several State Government senior officials also attended the meeting.
  •  The Union Railway Minister positively responded to the request of the Chief Minister, MPs and the state Government and said that it was a fruitful meeting and hoped that some good and positive thing will happen to Andhra Pradesh in railway projects and it will be reflected in the ensuing railway budget. The Chief Minister requested that new lines, doubling/trebling of lines, New trains, new stoppages, facilities in the Stations, MMTS phase-II to be taken up on priority basis. The Chief Minister announced that Rs.7 crores was sanctioned for the endowment land which was earmarked for the Kazipet wagon factory and sought the permission of the honourable high court for clearance. Earlier welcoming the Union Railway Ministers and MPs, the Chief Minister said that the state Government and people of Andhra Pradesh are eagerly looking forward for sanction of various railway projects, approval of estimates, release of funds, speed up the ongoing works, construction of ROB/RUBs , improvement of facilities besides introduction of new trains in the ensuing railway budget of 2012-13.
  • The Chief Minister also informed that a preparatory meeting with all the Members of the Parliament of the state was conducted four days back to have a clear view of the pendency and requirements at large and the Chief Minster stated that some of the important issues which came up for the discussion broadly -- requirement of funds for projects sanctioned long back, sanction of estimates for the projects in the past, long pending requests, long cherished multi modal transport system phase II in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, new proposals and other issues like increase in supply of rakes for the transportation of rice, more passenger services, passenger amenities to be improved in many stations, sanction of more Adarsh stations and request for more stoppages on existing services. The Chief Minster also made a power point presentation requesting the Union Government - MMTS Phase II with an abstract estimate of Rs 641 Crores (Year 2006) sent to board for which cost sharing is 2/3rd by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Sanction of several long pending projects, six new lines funds required Rs 550 Crores for 2012-13 estimates to new lines to be sanctioned with a cost of Rs 3,889 Crores, sanctioned and budget to be allotted.
  • Doubling and Trebling of two lines with an estimated cost of Rs 139 Crores, 12 Surveys in progress to be expedited, socially desirable surveys sanctioned 8 of which 3 are sent to board and the remaining 5 are in progress. 27 surveys already submitted to railway board. Important projects to be sanctioned for the state - MMTS Phase II, New lines from Nadikudi to Srikalahasthi, Latur to Kovvur, Rajam to Vizianagaram, Increase in the supply of rakes for transportation of rice, more passenger services, 23 new trains proposed, 6 extension of trains, additional stoppages for 8 trains apart from representations made by the Honourable MPs. Referring to the various survey and land acquisition problems, the Chief Minister said that as far as the state government is concerned, total funds have been provided to the railways for the cost sharing projects but the railways were not able to spend their part of the share.
  • For instance, the Chief Minister said that the State Government has provided Rs 300 Crores last year towards its share but the Railways has spent only Rs 114 Crores. Members of Parliament who attended the meeting are Sarvasri Ponnam Prabhakar, Rajiah, G.Vivek, Manda Jagannadham, T.Subbirami Reddy Undavalli Arun Kumar, Kanumuri Bapiraju, P.Balram Naik, G.Sukhender Reddy, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Sai Prathap, Chinta Mohan, Anantha Venkataram Reddy, Smt P.Ratna Bai, K.S.Rao, M.Srinivasulu Reddy, SPY Reddy, M.A.Khan, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Aziz Pasha, Nandi Yelliah, Suresh Shetkar, Smt G.Sudha Rani, Dr M.V.Mysoora Reddy, Nama Nageswara Rao, M.Venugopal Reddy, Ramesh Rathod, G.V.Harsha Kumar, Siva Prasad, Nimmala Kishtappa, K Narayana Rao, Sarve Sathyanarayana, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy attended the meeting and requested to sanction budget, various projects for their constituencies.
