FDI in Aviation: GoM to Meet Again

  • Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma today said a ministerial group mulling over FDI in the aviation sector will meet again."I am sure that the GoM will meet again to have a review of the developments to see what steps can be taken," Sharma, who is part of the Group of Ministers on Aviation, that has been looking into the FDI issue, told reporters here.He, however, did not give any date as to when will the GoM be meeting.Kingfisher Airlines, one of the biggest carriers promoted by the flamboyant Vijay Mallya, is reported to be on the brink due to financial mess which has also resulted in it being forced to cancel many flights.Banks are uncomfortable lending to the airline and in the absence of any saviours, the airline is looking ahead to the FDI nod which will give it necessary capital to stay afloat.
