Residents Lash Out At HDMC Commissioner for Bad Roads

  • HDMC commissioner K V Trilokchandra conducted a surprise inspection to check the quality of road works in some areas of Hubli on Saturday. The move followed complaints by people that the ongoing work was of poor quality.The HDMC has undertaken construction of interior roads with a budget of the Rs 40 crore.
  • The commissioner, along with a team of officials, visited Walvekar plot and inspected the quality of the road work. He said as per norms, roads should have 25 mm thickness and that the ongoing work was satisfactory. He appealed to citizens of Hubli-Dharwad to complain to the corporation control room, if they found bad quality of road work in their areas.
  • He said that he will instruct the staff to install sign boards at the work sites across the city. Later he visited the Badami Nagar and Forest Colony and inspected the road. Residents of Forest Colony had complained about the quality of the road. They gheraoed the commissioner and said the road, which was laid a few months ago, has been damaged. They demanded immediate action to repair the road. The commissioner said he will instruct officials to take action.
