L&T Aims to Get 200MW Solar Projects Next Fiscal

  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd Monday said it plans to focus on strengthening its engineering and construction segment , the news reports said.The engineering and construction company expects to get 200 mega watt of solar projects in the next fiscal. Krishnamurthi Venkataramanan, the newly-appointed Managing Director has laid stress on strengthening the EPC segment, which constitutes more than 80% of the business.Meanwhile, L&T  Construction, a part of the $11.7 billion company, has emerged as the largest EPC player in the country’s solar power sector. It  has also secured orders for over 200 mega watt and is now aiming a cumulative tally of solar power experience to increase to 400MW by FY13, the company said.

  • L&T has already commissioned a 25 mega watt solar plant at Charankha in Gujarat using tier-1 crystalline PV technology. The company has also  commissioned a 40 MW plant, employing thin film technology at Pokhran in Rajasthan, the news reports said.Of the 66 mega watt solar projects commissioned in Gujarat, the 10 mega watt plant located at Surendranagar has adopted  tier-1 crystalline PV modules and single axis trackers, the company said.L&T is the largest engineering and construction company having presence in power, hydrocarbon, machinery and railway related projects.
