HC Issues Notice to Nandi Infrastructure, Rap for Govt

  • The high court, on Monday, issued notices to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) Ltd in the public interest litigation alleging illegal quarrying and crushing of stones in government lands situated in survey number 39 of Gollahalli village in Uttarahalli Hobli, Bangalore south taluk.

  • The court pulled up the state government too over the same petition.Karnataka State SC/ST Minorities and Backward Classes Progressive Federation and others had filed the PIL in the high court contending that while travelling on the newly formed NICE Road, they had noticed illegal quarrying and crushing of stones in government lands in Gollahalli village. They had sought a direction from the court to stop these “illegal” activities.

  • The division bench headed by chief justice Vikramajit Sen questioned the state government over the petition.The state government counsel said they were taking action.The division bench observed that taking action was not enough.“Are you hand in glove with them,” asked the bench.“You should put an end to all this,” it added.The bench issued notices to NICE and directed that the status report should be filed in three days after getting the notice.
