SSNL Gets Vishwakarma Award for Best Power Project

  • State-run Sarodar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL), the implementing agency of Sardar Sarovar project, has won the "Vishwakarma" award for the best hydro-power generation project in the state. SSNNL set up one river bed power house (RBPH) and one Canal head power house (CHPH) and both these have a combined installed capacity of 1,450 mw. They can generate annually one billion units of environment-friendly hydro-power and till the end of February this year, these power plants have generated 2283 crore units of power worth 9130 crore, a release issued here said today. Construction of Industry Development Council (CIDC) had selected nearly 107 awardees under eleven different categories in which SSNL's hydro-power project was selected under the categoriey of best project (power), for its role in faciliting hydro-power generatiion in the state, it said. U C Jail, the chief engineer of SSNNL received this award from Union minister for micro, small and medium enterprises, Virbhadra Sinh recently in New Delhi, the release added. PTI VJA
