Power Outages Fuels Violence in Lahore, Faisalabad

  • Major cities of Punjab on Monday once again witnessed the violence during protest demonstration against prolonged power outages.

  • According to media reports, one demonstrators was killed while other sustained serious injuries when a guard on Gas station opened fire to disperse violent protesters.

  • According to the details, in Daroghawala and Shalimar areas of provincial capital, a large number of people gathered and blocked the road by setting tires on fire. The protesters also forcibly got the shops closed during the protest.

  • A guard at the petrol pump fired upon the mob in a bid to stop them from damaging the facility. One protester was killed while the other sustained serious injuries. The protesters got further infuriated and set the pump on fire.

  • In Faisalabad, distraught people, protested against the protracted hours of load shedding, took to road this morning and staged a novel demonstration.

  • The protesters including laborers danced to the beat of dhol (drum) on Sumandri Road; but, before long, they developed aggression and went on rampage, defiling two vehicles.

  • The angry youths, wielding batons, forced the closure of bazaar and then headed the bus stop, where they unleashed their fury over two cars.

  • The protesters said the power outage sapped out the business completely with joblessness on the rise with no one to help around.
