Awasthi to Head Power Corporation

  • The energy department and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited finally got a head on Tuesday when the state government posted Rajiv Kapoor and Avanish Awasthi as principal secretary (energy) and chairman-cum managing director of UPPCL, respectively.The department had turned into a headless organisation for nearly two weeks after the state government shunted out secretary (energy), Navneet Sehgal, who was also chairman-cum-managing director of UPPCL.

  • The public works department too got its principal secretary as Kumar Arvind Singh Deo, who was transferred from the department of sports.In all, the state government transferred 12 IAS officers. While Rajan Shukla was shifted to the department of infrastructure and industries as its secretary, Anurag Srivastava was transferred from revenue board to the department of rural development as its commissioner. Srivastava had hit the headlines after SP Siddharthanagar Mohit Gupta alleged Srivastava, who was posted as the divisional commissioner, of misbehaviour during a poll review meeting.

  • Likewise, Sanjay Agarwal has been relieved of the charge of department of cooperative, even as he retains the post of principal secretary, medical, health and family welfare. Majid Ali will be principal secretary, department of cooperative.Similarly, Mukul Singhal has been relieved of the charge of the department of horticulture and food processing, which now goes to Navtej Singh, who will also hold the additional charge of principal secretary, administrative reforms, general administration and national integration. Singhal will continue to hold the post of principal secretary, small scale industries.Besides this, Himanshu Kumar was shifted from the post of director (administration) medical and health and posted as commissioner commercial tax. He will be assisted by Kamini Ratan Chauhan, who was posted as additional commissioner in the same department. Ajay Kumar Singh was shifted from Prabuddhnagar as its DM and posted in Saharanpur in the same capacity.
