The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has been working on a people friendly project which envisages a coastal road via Vaduthala connecting Pachalam Road and Vallarpadam Container Terminal Road.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">&ldquo;Though there are also some environmental hurdles before the project, the plan is to implement the project by including it along with the development of other projects,&rdquo; said the officials.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Discussions are on to implement the project with the help of the Port Trust and the residents of the proposed area. A meeting in this regard was carried out recently. The second phase development of Marine Drive walkway is also on the cards. If implemented, this will include extension of the walkway further up northward and ambitious projects like Dolphin Park, cable car and laser show. A series of discussions was already held with foreign experts for these projects.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Construction of a plastic road at Kalamassery has given additional momentum to the development activities in the city. On launching the project for tarring roads using plastic waste, the Corporation is planning to continue its tie-up with Credai for going ahead with the project.&nbsp;</span></span></span><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">There are plans to extend the project to other areas too. In the first phase of the project, the shredded plastic stored at the shredding unit will be used for tarring the roads under various local bodies in Ernakulam.</span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Startup firms are gradually making their mark in the city&rsquo;s development. The &lsquo;City on Wheels&rsquo; project initiated by Technovia Info Solutions in association with private bus operators in the city was recently launched here. Once the smart card is swiped, the money will be transferred to the account of the bus owner concerned. Also, the recharge option can be done through the conductor of the bus. Card outlets will be opened at all private bus stands.
