Roads to be repaired finally after 2 year delay

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">After a delay of over two years, roads near K J Mehta College, Fernandeswadi, Chavanke Mala, Lonkar Mala, Komal Park and other related roads in prabhag 55 in Nashik Road division of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will finally be repaired.&nbsp;</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Local residents informed that the civic body had dug up the roads over two years ago for laying pipelines for storm water drainage and had just superficially covered up the dug up roads.&nbsp;</span></span></span><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">&quot;We have complained to the local corpzrators number of times but to no avail. We also told them that the broken roads had become accident prone as vehicles would skid while applying brakes,&quot; some locals said.</span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Corporators in their defense said that they had been time and again raising the issue with the civic administration ever since they got elected. While two of the works had got approved, the docket for the road works to be approved by the general body of the NMC is still lying with the municipal commissioner, they added. Only when the commissioner signs the docket can the proposal be sent for approval to the general body.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">&quot;The road was dug up for storm water drainage work two years back. Since the civic election got over, I have been pursuing the matter with the civic administration for getting the roads repaired. However, the municipal commissioner has been telling me that there are no funds for the road works. We, the corporators of this prabhag, have offered the corporator&#39;s funds of two years, which is INR 30 lakh per year, for the repairs. The funds total up to INR 1.20 crore, while the entire work will cost around INR 3.5-4 crore. The corporator&#39;s funds are usually used for petty works like electric pole repairs and leakage repairs,&quot; said local corporator Shivaji Sahane (Shiv Sena).</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Municipal commissioner Sanjay Khandare said, &quot;I will have to see the proposal before approving it.
