SCR will complete work on 17 Road Bridges by March 31: PK Srivastava

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The South Central Railway is keen to complete construction of 17 road over-bridges and under-bridges this year.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">SCR general manager PK Srivastava reviewed the current status of the sanctioned projects at a meeting with officials here on Thursday.&nbsp;At present, 19 new railway lines, four track doubling and tripling projects and 37 road over-bridge (RoB) and under-bridge (RuB) works and 19 traffic facility works are taken up by the construction wing of SCR.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">As the sanctioned projects require huge money, the general manager advised the officials to prioritise the projects on the basis of importance and take up works on them in a focused manner to enable their early completion.&nbsp;</span></span></span><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">Two new railway lines have been commissioned so far in the current financial year. While the 59 Km long Gadwal-Raichur line (INR 300 crore) was opened in October, the 32 Km long Humnabad-Khanapur track (INR 200 crore) was opened in December.</span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">During the current financial year, an amount of INR 202 crore has been spent on&nbsp; laying new lines, INR 30 crore on track doubling, INR 28 crore on traffic facility and INR 40 crore on RoB/ RuBs. Work on four of the 17 RoB/ RuBs has been completed and on the others is in progress.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">There were 10 projects the cost of which Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have agreed to share, Srivastava said, adding that the SCR would complete the task in close co-ordination with the state governments on issues like land acquisition and clearances.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Source-On Request</span></span></span></p>
