Uproar in UMC meeting over Power, Road issues

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The General Meeting of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) on Saturday witness ruckus over power, road and water issues. Corporators of both the ruling and opposition parties raised these issues vehemently. The uproar was mainly on the irregular water supply in certain localities of the city.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Corporators told the meeting that the residents facing lot of inconvenience due to the irregular supply of water.Residents of Nagziri locality is the worst hit as most of the hand pumps are in broken state. Defending the issue, corporators from the ruling side said that a pipeline was being laid between Dussehra Maidan and Nagziri. Besides, water is being supplied through tankers in the area, the said. Leader of opposition Ravi Rai demanded free water supply like the AAP government in Delhi did.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Opposition corporators also vehemently raised the issue of dilapidated roads in the city. Ravi Rai said that the contractors did not complete the work in time and the corporators are face brunt of residents. Responding to the issue, Mayor Rameshwar Akhand assured that strict action would be taken against contractors who did not complete the work between 2010 and 2013.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Corporator Maya Trivedi said the residents of Kartik Chowk and Chhatri Chowk should be informed about the projects to be implemented in their localities. Mahakal procession should pass through the localities; Maya demanded.Corporators of the Opposition parties also raised the waste management issue.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Garbage is not lifted regularly from city roads, they said. Garbage should be disposed of at the trenching ground instead of burning it, the corporators demanded. Opposition corporators also took objection to the hiking of rates by Grand Hotel. The Mayor justified that fare has to be hiked because of maintenance of the hotel.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">MLA Mohan adav talked about food zone construction at Harifatak area under Challenge Fund scheme and said that they should prepare an extensive and integrated scheme to develop food zone and multi- storey parking.Leader of ruling party Jagdish Panchal, corporators Kalawati adav, Ruby Kacchway, Dilip Parmar and others were present.
