In a first, NHAI may develop a Road for Vadodara

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">For the first time in the city, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) may develop a road for the civic body. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has put up a proposal in this regard before the NHAI on Tuesday.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">A delegation of elected representatives from VMC met minister of state for road transport and highways Dr Tushar Chaudhari at Delhi. The meeting was in the wake of the declaration by Chaudhari at a recent event in the city that the NHAI would take up a road project in the city if it was handed over one.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The delegation comprising mayor Bharat Shah, deputy mayor Seema Mohile, standing committee chairman Dr Hitendra Patel, opposition leader Chandrakant Shrivastava and others had met Chaudhari and other senior officials of the ministry. Sources said the group had proposed that the NHAI make an outer ring road for the VMC in the city.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">&quot;The Outer Ring Road proposed to the ministry is a 75 metre broad road and is a plan of the development plan of Vadodara Urban Development Authority. It has been proposed that the NHAI bear the entire cost of the road,&quot; said a functionary.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">VMC functionaries have proposed that NHAI bear the entire cost of the project while the civic body will provide it clear land and draw town planning schemes to facilitate the road. But sources said a final decision will be taken only at a later stage.
