NDMC Committee rejects all new proposed Taxes

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The Standing Committee of North Delhi Municipal Corporation today rejected all new taxes proposed by the municipal body&#39;s Commissioner for the years 2013-14 and 2014-15, officials said today.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">&quot;The proposals to increase the rates of property tax and imposing of unit area value, theatre tax, sanitation fee for organising social events, road tax, night fees and increased health and trade licence fees have been rejected,&quot; NDMC Public Relation Officer Yogendra Singh Mann said.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The Standing Committee met today to finalise the amended budget estimates for the financial year 2013-14 and budget estimates for the year 2014-15.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Besides, the Committee has also rejected the proposals to increase parking rates, usage charges for collection of door-to-door garbage, congestion charges for the year 2014-15, providing respite to the citizens from new taxes to the tune of INR 600 crore annually, NDMC&#39;s Standing Committee chairman Mohan Bhardwaj said in a statement.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">For regularised unauthorised colonies INR 50 crore has been earmarked, INR 8 crore for villages in urban areas, INR 15 crore for roads in urban areas and INR 20 crore for roads in rural areas and INR 50 crore for solid management, it said.&nbsp;</span><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">For renovation of roads in villages, a budget of INR 5 crore has been proposed and INR 2 crore for maintenance of cremation grounds.</span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The chairman appealed to the officials to make full use of the budget earmarked for the development works else a departmental inquiry will be done against them if any lethargy or dereliction of duties are found.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">Source-On Request</span></p>
