<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The Centre has assured Uttarakhand government to clear road projects worth INR 771.07 crore under PMGSY for the state, where a vast network of highways were damaged and washed away in the June flash-floods.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">In a letter to Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Tuesday, Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh said an Empowered Committee has recommended clearance of 166 road projects, including upgradation of 42 roads in flood-hit areas of the state under XII phase of PMGSY worth INR 771.07 crore.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">A copy of the letter circulated to the media on Wednesday mentioned that as per the advice of the Committee, Ramesh asked the state government to expeditiously send a compliance report about certain technical observations of the panel prior to the clearance of these proposals.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The compliance report will pave the way for clearance of the projects, a majority of which are being constructed in the flood-ravaged hill districts of Chamoli, Tehri and Pithoragarh.&nbsp;</span></span></span><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">The maximum number of 27 road projects will be taken up in Tehri, followed by 24 in Dehradun, 21 each in Chamoli and Pauri and 18 in Haridwar.</span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Source-On Request</span></span></span></p>
