Footpath on Aundh Road constructed

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The ready footpath at the Aundh end of the UoP junction marks the culmination of the pedestrian facilitation work started by the Pune Municipal Corporation.&nbsp;</span></span></span><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">The 50 metre footpath should help walkers who had to negotiate their way through heavy traffic to reach the Pune University gate and move further towards Pashan, Shivajinagar and Baner.</span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The roads department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has connected the new footpath with the existing one located in front of the Raj Bhavan. With this, the work on improving pedestrian facilities at the busy junction is complete. In the first phase, two pedestrian islands were built one on Ganeshkhind Road and the other on Pashan Road. The one on Baner Road was reworked.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">PMC officials said they are hopeful about the utility of the new facility. &quot;Pedestrian density on this road is very high and this footpath will help them safely cross the road,&quot; said Arun Kolekar, PMC junior engineer (roads). Tushar Sarode, the contractor, said the feedback is positive. &quot;People have started using the footpath. The structure is about 50 metres in length and connects with the existing pedestrian facility.
