Tender floated for steel Flyover

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has floated a prequalification tender for the construction of a steel flyover from Minerva Circle to Hudson Circle. Once the tendering process is over, the work is expected to commence in June this year.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">An executive engineer associated with the project said if it is implemented, the 2.2 Km&nbsp;long elevated corridor from Minerva Circle to Hudson Circle would be the first of its kind in the country as the super-structure and the sub-structure will be made of steel. The INR 120 crore project should be completed in 18 months from the date of its commencement.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">&ldquo;JC Road from Minerva Circle to Town Hall is one way. To reach Minerva Circle from Town Hall end, one has to take long routes. The project aims at providing two-way route between Minerva Circle and Town Hall reducing the distance and avoiding traffic snarls,&rdquo; he said. The distance between Town Hall and Minerva Circle is hardly a kilometre but due to the circuitous route, people have to travel two kilometre, he added.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Palike officers said many trees and private properties may have to give way for the project. Palike sources said the proposal had received in-principle approval from the State government. The BBMP is eyeing the Central government grants under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) for funding and the State government.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">A request with detailed project report has been sent to the Centre for grants under JnNURM. If the Centre okays the project, it will fund 35 percent of total cost and 15 per cent will be borne by State government. The rest will be spent by the BBMP.
