More Transmission Lines for Mumbai

Tata Power, which has invested over INR 1,000 crore in transmission lines, said it has started work on a 400 Kv station at Vikhroli and 400 Kv transmission lines from Kharghar/Nagothane to Vikhroli, near here.

Tata Power said its lines carry 60–70 percent of the bulk power consumed by Mumbai city. The transmission system is the key interlink between generation and distribution of power as it plays a two-fold role of linking the city with the Maharashtra state grid as well as the national grid. Tata Power recently commissioned additional 220 Kv lines between Kalwa and Salsette in the Mumbai suburbs. Plans are in place to address the transmission needs till 2026. The company’s lines are also utilised by other discoms in Mumbai.
