UP Govt releases INR 51 crore for development works

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The state government released an amount of INR 51 crore from the &#39;Awsthapana Nidhi&#39; fund for construction of roads and other development projects of the city.&nbsp;</span></span></span><span style="color:rgb(105, 105, 105); font-family:arial; font-size:11px; line-height:1.6em">The fund has been released for three bodies including Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC), Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) and Awas Vikas. According to executive engineer KMC, Tarun Kumar Sharma, the municipal corporation has decided to work on the worst-hit roads of the city.</span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Sharma stated that 14 such roads have been identified by the corporation and a list of these roads would be submitted before the divisional commissioner in the next meeting.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">According to municipal commissioner office more than 100 roads are in a bad condition and need immediate attention. Prominent roads which need immediate attention are Geeta Nagar to GT Crossing, Vijay Nagar double Pulia to Kaka Deo, Parade Crossing to Ghantaghar, Moolganj to Meston Road, Parade Crossing to Muslim Orphanage, Prem Nagar Crossing to Roopam Crossing, Zarib Chowki to Bajaria Tiraha, Arya Nagar to Benajhabar, Tilak Nagar to VIP Road, Nawabganj to Kanpur Zoo and Gwaltoli Nullah to Gwaltoli Market.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">KMC hopes to get INR 117 crores from the fund. KDA was also hoping for funds from Awasthapana Nidhi as recently the state government had sought details of pending amount under the special fund towards KDA.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The state government had earlier blocked the funds of Awsthapana Nidhi since November 2012. The three departments KDA, KMC and Awas Vikas had written several times to the state government for the work for development of city. Though the state government has not sanctioned funds under this head since last three years but a few days ago it had indicated to release funds to KMC.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Local bodies&#39; officials on anonymity stated that since general elections are near, the state government was releasing funds to gear up the development projects and attract votes.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Source-On Request</span></span></span></p>
