Will ensure there is no power crisis in summer: Shivakumar

<p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar has said the government is taking steps to ensure there is no power crisis during the ensuing summer. He was speaking to presspersons here on Sunday after visiting the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) and the Yermarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS) site.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">&ldquo;We will make sure that there is no power crisis in during summer. Apart from maximising power generation, we are exploring ways to purchase power from Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra to overcome any shortage during summer. We will ensure that students are not put to hardship due to power cuts during examinations,&rdquo; he said.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">Officials had been instructed to speed up the work on the YTPS so that two units could start operation by this December, he said.</span></span></span></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><span style="color:#696969"><span style="font-size:11px"><span style="font-family:arial">The Minister said Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.
