'If discoms violate terms then they must go': CM Arvind Kejriwal

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked the people of Delhi to be ready to face some difficulties regarding power supply but he has also ensured that Delhiites will not have to live without electricity. He said people might have to face some trouble only if the power distribution companies continued their 'blackmailing' tactics.

Kejriwal said that he has no personal problem with Ambanis or Tatas who run another discom in the capital. He told PTI that Delhi Government will be more than happy to work with them if they be honest in doing business. It is notable that Anil Ambani's BSES discoms are pressing for hike in electricity rates.

Arvind Kejriwal stated that if discoms violate the terms then they should go as providing uninterrupted power supply to Delhi was included in the terms of License. 'This is not only my struggle. If you go to the people, they are very upset with the issue of electricity. It is a collective struggle and we will have to fight together', he said.

'If we want to stop the blackmail, we should be ready for some difficulties in the transition period and everyone will have to bear it,' he said. He said that power tariff will be decided on the basis of CAG scrutiny among the three private discoms. Kejriwal said 'There was active collusion between the companies and the previous government. Now the message to them is very clear. We would be very happy to work with them if they want to do honest business. We have no personal issues with either Tatas or Ambanis'. He said that they have no problem in doing business with Tatas and Ambanis provided they do not continue like they previously did as it would not work.
