Minister lays foundation stone for 500 MW Gonda Power unit

Beni Prasad Verma, Union Minister for Steel, laid the foundation stone for the 500 MW capacity power plant at Mankapur in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh To mark the occasion, he distributed solar lamps to school children and certificates to the trainees of skill development programme run by MSME.
A bank loan mela was also organised and kisan credit cards were distributed to small farmers and entrepreneurs. Verma said job opportunities in Gonda will increase only with the industrial development in the region. “Thousands of people will get direct and indirect employment with the establishment of Gonda Power Plant with an investment of ₹3,000 crore, “he said. He said stopping of three express trains in Gonda at Katra, Maskanva and Mankapur was being planned from February 24.
