Adani slashes PNG, CNG rates by 16-21 Percent

Private sector gas distributor, Adani Gas on Tuesday announced sharp reduction in gas prices for compressed natural gas (CNG) and pressurized natural gas (PNG) for its customers in Vadodara and Ahmedabad.

The auto gas or CNG prices have been reduced by INR 12 a kg from INR 58.75 per kg earlier to INR 46.75 per kg now, which works out to be a reduction of around 21 per cent. Similarly, PNG (Domestic) prices have been cut by around 16 per cent from INR 740.70 per million British thermal unit (MMBtu) (or approx INR 28.80 per standard cubic meter) to INR 615.22 per MMBtu (or approx 23.80 per SCM) excluding VAT with effect from February 19, 2014 (0000 hrs), Adani Gas said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

“Government of India has issued revised guidelines dated February 3, 2014 for allocation of domestic gas to City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities for CNG (transport) and PNG (Domestic),” the statement said. The prices have been reduced in Ahmedabad and Vadodara markets keeping in view the additional allocation of domestic gas.

The company further informed that the above reduction would benefit 190,000 households and approximately 150,000 CNG users in Ahmedabad & Vadodara cities. Adani Gas is a gas distribution arm of billionaire, Gautam Adani-led Adani Group.
