Officials warned against garbage dumped on Road

Taking a serious note of garbage being dumped on road instead of dumping site, the Kanpur municipal commissioner DK Singh, on Wednesday, directed the zonal health officials to ensure that the practice is stopped in their respective zones or they would have to face action. The commissioner asked zonal health officers to depute at least one sanitary worker at each garbage dump house to direct the sanitary workers to drop garbage there instead of on road. The city has around 160 dump houses where garbage is supposed to be dumped after door to door collection.

The municipal commissioner had earlier received several complaints regarding garbage being dumped on road. A few days ago, DM Roshan Jacob also visited some localities and found that garbage dumped outside the dump house was being scattered by pigs and stray dogs. The DM had also passed strict directions in this regard.

Municipal commissioner also sought information about renovation of about three dozen garbage dumping houses which had been cleared by the corporation. He passed directives regarding to chief engineer Tarun Kumar Sharma to ensure that Holika is burnt on a layer of bricks and sand as direct heat would cause damage to the road.

He also asked the engineering department to identify all places where 'holika' was to be burnt and lay bricks and sand there. Singh sought a ward wise list of development work so that sanitary supervisor are entrusted with responsibility of supervision of the work.

Dugged roads: Chief engineer of Jal Nigam, Rakesh Chandra said roads that had been either dug or being dug would take another two to three months to become commutable. He said road repair and construction work could not be done due to recent rainfall. As there are chances of showers in coming days, the work has been postponed.

Currently work of laying of sewer line and pipe line is being done at various places including Bara Chauraha Crossing, VIP Road, Jajmau, Vishnupuri, Phoolbagh, Geeta Park, Ram Bagh, Deep Cinema and Saket Nagar area.
