Third unit of GMR Group's thermal Power Plant become operational

The third unit of the GMR Group’s 350-MW coal-based thermal power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district was declared operational with effect from Tuesday. The first unit in this category had become operational on 30.04.2013, whereas the second unit got functional on 12.11. 2013. With this, the combined capacity of the plant has reached to 1050 MW while the GMR group has touched a capacity of 2485.6 MW. The global infrastructure major working in airport, energy, highway and urban infrastructure sectors is committed to establish the 1,400-MW GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) in two phases of 3x350 MW and 1x350 MW, respectively. GKEL would supply power to Odisha, Bihar, Haryana and other parts of the country.

GKEL MD RV Sheshan said with commissioning of all the three units of 350-MW each, we have completed the first phase of the project and the work for the second and final phase of the project would begin very soon.
