Road Transport and Highways Ministry may rely on toll revenue to Fund Expansion Projects

The ministry of road transport and highways has embarked on an exercise to estimate their revenue from toll collection to see if the government can build more roads through its own resources. While public private partnership (PPP) projects have been suffering of late and private players have been complaining of low growth in toll revenue, the NHAI and the ministry's kitty has swelled over the past decade over seven times as more roads come under tolling.
