PPP plan for INR 6290 Crore expressway Project scrapped

It is reported that the Union government will no longer pursue the INR 6,290 crore Eastern Peripheral Expressway project under public-private partnership model as it has failed to attract any developers. Sources said that NHAI did not receive a single bid for the project before the April 4th deadline. The project will now be put up for development under the conventional engineering procurement construction (EPC) mode.Officials said that bidding for the EPE project remained open for almost two months but closed without anyone showing interest.

While Reliance Infrastructure, IRB, Uniquest Infra Ventures, the Srei-OHL consortium and IL&FS had showed interest at the time of request for qualification (RFQ), they all backed out later. This was the fifth time that the EPE was put out for bidding.
